“Nice bunion corrector! Comfortable, easy to adjust, and feels supportive and lightweight. I like that it can be worn during the day or at night. Good quality and simple to use.”

Overview

A soft brace that wraps the big toe joint and the midfoot, with an EMS unit built into it and a slim aluminium strip running along the side of the joint.

A gel spacer sits between your toes and holds them apart while it is in. It flexes as you walk, it works its way out of position, and when it comes out nothing has changed, because nothing was ever asked to do the holding. The aluminium strip is the part that does not bend, so the line you set at the start is the line it holds for the whole session.

The pulses ask the muscle to do the rest. The one that matters runs along the inside of your foot, under the arch, and in most people with a bunion it has quietly stopped pulling its weight.

One 15 minute session a day, sitting down. It is not worn in shoes and not worn overnight.

What's in the box
  • The brace, with the EMS unit and the aluminium strip built in
  • Two toe straps
  • A wireless remote
  • A USB charging cable
  • A short instruction booklet

The both feet set contains two braces and one remote.

How to use it
  1. Charge it fully the first time.
  2. Sit down and open the wrap flat. One strap goes over the big toe, the other round the midfoot.
  3. Start at level 1 and climb until the pulse is firm and steady. Never sharp.
  4. Leave it 15 minutes, then take it off.
Care and charging

Charges over USB from any plug or laptop. A full charge covers several sessions, so most people top it up about once a week.

Wipe the wrap with a slightly damp cloth and let it dry flat. Do not submerge it or put it in the machine, and do not charge it while you are wearing it. Store it somewhere dry.

Delivery and returns

Free US shipping on everything. Sent within one or two working days and with you in 5 to 11, with a tracking number as soon as it leaves us.

If it has not earned its place after a month, email us within 30 days and we will tell you where to send it and refund you once it lands. A person reads that email, so there is no portal and no form.

Safety

Myostep is a muscle-stimulation and support device. It is not a medical treatment and is not intended to diagnose, treat or cure any condition.

Do not use it if you have a pacemaker or another implanted electronic device. Speak to your doctor first if you are pregnant, or living with diabetes, reduced feeling in your feet, or a circulatory condition. It should never sting. If it does, turn it down.

What arrives

Shown as the both feet set.

The brace

Soft wrap with the EMS unit and a built-in aluminium strip. 29 intensity levels on a small display.

The remote

Four buttons, power and intensity, so you can adjust it without leaning forward.

USB charging cable

Charges from any USB plug or laptop. A full charge lasts several sessions.

A short booklet

Plain English, large type. How to fit it, how to start, and when not to use it.

Hands pressing the velcro closure of the Myostep EMS bunion brace onto a bare foot, the control unit lit on the instep and the padded splint wrapped around the big toe.

It goes on in about 20 seconds

The wrap opens flat, so you are not wrestling with it on the edge of the bed. If your hands are not what they were, this is the part people worry about. It is the part that turns out to be easy.

1

Sit down and open the wrap flat. One strap goes over the big toe, the other round the midfoot.

2

Start at level 1. Climb until the pulse is firm and steady, a tapping under the joint, never a sting.

3

Leave it 15 minutes. Read, watch something, have a cup of tea. Then take it off.

Is this actually right for you?

We would rather you did not buy it than buy it and be disappointed. Here is the honest version.

Worth trying if

  • Your bunion is mild to moderate, and the toe still has some give in it
  • It aches after a day on your feet rather than constantly
  • You have tried spacers or a splint and found them a nuisance to keep up
  • You can reliably find 15 minutes a day, sitting down
  • You want to do something before it becomes a surgical conversation

Probably not if

  • You have a pacemaker or another implanted electronic device. This one is a firm no.
  • The joint has gone rigid and the toe no longer moves
  • You are hoping to avoid surgery that has already been recommended to you
  • You have reduced feeling in your feet, until you have spoken to your doctor
  • You want the bunion itself to disappear. It will not. Nothing worn on the outside does that.

Will it fit my foot?

One size. The wrap is a soft stretch fabric with a slim aluminium strip along the side of the joint, so it holds its line without the all-over pressure of a moulded shell. Both straps are adjustable, so it takes a range of foot widths and a prominent joint without pressing on it. Left and right are shaped differently, so choose the foot you want it for, or the pair.

How should it feel?

Like a firm, rhythmic tapping under the joint, and a small tug along the inside of your foot as the muscle draws in. Strange for the first few days, then unremarkable. If it stings, prickles or makes you flinch, it is turned up too high. Turn it down. Higher is not faster, and there is no prize for enduring it.

30 days to change your mind

Give it a proper go for a month. If it has not earned its place in your evening, email us within 30 days and we will tell you where to send it and refund you once it lands. A person reads that email, so there is no portal, no form, and no one asking you three times whether you are sure.

Questions people ask

If yours is not here, email us. A person answers.

How long before I notice anything?

Give it a month of daily use before you judge it. This is muscle work, and muscle work is slow. Anyone promising you a difference in a week is selling you something.

Will it make my bunion go away?

No. A bunion is a change in the bone and the joint, and nothing worn on the outside reverses that. What this is for is the muscle that should be holding the toe in line, and the ache that comes from it having stopped.

Can I wear it in my shoes, or overnight?

Neither, and that is deliberate. It is a seated 15 minute session, then it comes off. You do not wear it out of the house and you do not sleep in it, which is exactly what people give up on with night splints.

How many intensity levels are there?

29. Start at level 1 and climb until the pulse is firm and steady, a tapping under the joint, never a sting. Most people settle somewhere low for the first week and creep up from there. Higher is not faster.

When will my order arrive?

Free US shipping on everything. We send it within one or two working days and it reaches you in 5 to 11. You will get a tracking number as soon as it leaves us.

I have it on both feet. Do I need two?

If both feet have it, the pair is worth having. You treat both in the same 15 minutes rather than doubling your evening, and the pair costs less than buying two singles. If only one foot is bothering you, start with one.

What is the remote for?

Changing the intensity without leaning forward. Some people use it every session; plenty never take it out of the box. The buttons on the unit itself do exactly the same job.

What if I want to send it back?

Email us within 30 days and we will tell you where to send it and refund you once it lands. A person reads that email, so there is no portal and no form.

Who should not use EMS at all?

Anyone with a pacemaker or another implanted electronic device. That one is not negotiable. Speak to your doctor first if you are pregnant, or living with diabetes, reduced feeling in your feet, or a circulatory condition. Myostep is a muscle-stimulation and support device, not a medical treatment, and is not intended to diagnose, treat or cure anything.

Start with the foot that hurts

15 minutes an evening. Start with the foot that is bothering you, and add the other later if you want it.
